Write a five paragraph critical analysis of two works of art that were made during a time period we discuss in this class

Critical Analysis Paper (Please read both pages of the directions)For this assignment, you must write a five paragraph critical analysis of two works of art that were made during a time period we discuss in this class.(Time periods that have been discussed: Prehistoric art, ancient Egyptian art and architecture, ancient aegean art and architecture, ancient greek art, ancient roman art, andearly christian art and architecture.) These works must meet the following criteria: they must be works that we have not discussed in class, they must be from non-consecutive time periods that we’ve studied (i.e., we can’t have studied the two works you discuss in weeks one after the other) and they should share some common element that will form the basis of your comparison. For example, they might both depict females, though one is an Etruscan tomb painting and one a Greek goddess. Or they might both be works in bronze, though one is a Greek bronze and the other a Renaissance sculpture. The idea is to have some shared quality as an entrance point into your discussion. *Be sure that the works are not from time periods that are similar– when they are farther apart in time it usually makes for a stronger paper that is also easier to write!Your essay should be structured as follows: The first paragraph should introduce the work by giving a complete identification including the artist, title, date, and location (this may be its original location, or the name of the museum to which it now belongs). You should provide as much of this information as is known. In the first paragraph you will also want to identify the culture to which it belongs. * Most important!* The first paragraph will also include your thesis. This should be a specific statement, your argument about how these works relate to each other. The second paragraph should be an integrated description of each work. This often works best if you evaluate them in terms of characteristics from the elements of art and principles of design (though the artist may have used the term or characteristic in a completely opposite way in each work). You must focus on at least four elements or principles. The third paragraph should present your analysis of the work. Here you should move from telling your reader what you see to how or why that creates a certain impression for the viewer. This paragraph will begin to explain what you think the artist was trying to communicate by making the piece look the way it does. As with the previous paragraphs, this should be an integrated discussion of both works. The fourth paragraph should be your interpretation of the work. Here, you will expand the impression or message communicated by the work to what you think the works’ broader significance is. For example, if we consider the Apoxymenos (the Scraper), paragraph three may talk about the harmony of the anatomy in this specific figure, whereas paragraph four might discuss the cultural value the Greeks placed on the human body and athletes in a more general sense. With interpretation, you move from the specific of the work to a claim about a broader cultural significance. Your final paragraph should be a clear conclusion where you sum up your arguments. The goal with conclusions is to strengthen your thesis by restating your main arguments in a way that isn’t repetitive. The paper should be in the Times New Roman 12 pt. font, double-spaced, with 1 to 1.5 inch margins. The total length should be between 2.5 to 3.5 pages. You must also include images of the works you choose (they may both fit on a single 8.5 x 11 page).
Important!!! You must cite any sources (including your sources for the images.) MLA guidelines should be followed. If you have questions about how to cite your sources, please email me.***As preparation for writing the assignment, you must complete (and submit with your paper) a detailed outline of your paper, with both your thesis and concluding statements cleared stated.
