Ukraine’s Criminal Justice System
The history of Ukraine’s police department is quite intriguing while analyzing the criminal justice system of the country. Over the past five years, Ukraine’s law enforcement has been making headlines as the nation tried to transform its criminal justice system. The history of the country claims that the police administration functioned under the Law on Militia. The minister of Internal Affairs would appoint the heads of regional militia who would then appoint the heads of city and district militia. To date, no reforms have been made to the militia subdivisions since the original structure and hierarchies remain effective. The world however is watching closely to see if there are any changes to be made to combat the level of corruption in Ukraine’s criminal justice system.
