Case-study task for students pursues an aim to apply theoretical knowledge they got during the
course “Economic Policy” MJRI.03.091. In particular, after the case study task participants will
be able to
– put into practice the instruments of economic policy;

1) Doing Business estimates the conditions of small and medium-sized firm’s establishment. The
higher country is in the rank, more favourable environment it has for doing business. The Ease of

will become the object of cross-country comparisons.

To fulfil the case-study analysis students will be divided into 7 groups with respect to the blocks
of countries according to Table 3. Each group will explore three countries in its block and compare
them on the basis of indicators in the Pillar 1, Pillar 11, Pillar 12 and 10 Doing Business indicators.
Group 1, 3 and 5 will analyse Doing Business data and Group 2, 4, 6 and 7 take Pillar 1, Pillar
11, Pillar 12 from Global Competitiveness Report 2018: 2024 – Write My Essay For Me | Essay Writing Service For Your Papers Online. Every group has to present the results of
its investigation on 5 indicators (minimum requirement, more is possible, but keep in mind that
time for presentation is 15 min.!) Students have an opportunity to choose any five indicators from

Experiencing this practical exercise, students will have a chance to try the role of policy

Table 4 illustrates the most obvious differences in the indicators of countries of the same group.
For example, judicial independence in China is higher than in the other two countries. Hence, the
logical question appears – why so? What is especial in the juridical system of China? Answering
these questions, students have to monitor peculiarities in countries’ policies and institutional
organisation. In the analysis, it is also possible to explain not only remarkable differences in
indicators, but also similarities in indicators’ estimations of one group of countries.

apply another approach for data analysis.
As outcomes, students have to conclude:
1) Why measurement of some indicators in countries of the same investigated group may

prosperity?
