*Assignment 28 – Find 5 specific sources relating to your argumentative position
List each source specifically, such as author/title/URL, etc

EXAMPLE OF ASMT 28

Gaspirini, R., et al. “The ‘urban myth’ of the association between neurological disorders and
Vaccinations.” https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4718347/.
Kiernan, John C. “Should Vaccines Be Mandatory? Experts Pick Sides.”
https://wallethub.com/blog/should-vaccines-be-mandatory/27624/.
“Should Any Vaccines Be Required for Children?”
https://vaccines.procon.org/.
“The Science of Anti-Vaccination”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rzxr9FeZf1g.
“What’s in Vaccines?”
https://www.vaccines.gov/basics/safety/vaccine_ingredients/index.html.

*Assignment 29– Find 4-8 points from each source supporting your argument
Be sur to keep track of which source each point is from

EXAMPLE OF ASMT 29 (“Should Any Vaccines Be Required?”).
–because they have been proved to be safe
— These major organizations have been founded on medical professionals who dedicate most of their life on the Lab.
– -research is approved and reviewed by dozens of other scientists (just like an author before releasing a new book.)
–Vaccination not only helps a person, but the community in general
“According to [a] United Nations Foundation partner organization, vaccines save 2.5 million children from preventable diseases
every year, which equates to roughly 285 children saved every hour”
–Well-known organizations such as the “Center for Disease Control, Food and Drug Administration, Institute of Medicine,
American Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics,” have always issued parents’ concerns towards vaccination
in a clear, informative way

(“Vaccines Required for Children?).
–But not to worry, because these chemicals come in very small amounts. “Children are exposed to more aluminum in breast
milk and infant formula than they are exposed to in vaccines”
–For the immunization to function, there needs to be specific substances (like weakened organisms) added into the vaccine
formula.
–The content of a vaccine should not be an issue when considering vaccinating children, because it is safe to inject. –Examples: the polio and smallpox disease outbreaks.

”(Kiernan) “Should Vaccines Be Mandatory”
Going back to the time of the very first English settlers in America, smallpox was the main cause of deathSmallpox devastated
numerous communities because of its high level of contagiousness and severity. Flashing forward to the communities of
today, it is unheard of any outbreaks of the disease since the 1980’s.
Similarly, the large epidemics of polio were very common dating back to most of our parent’s generation. Nowadays, it is
extremely rare to find cases of polio.
–The reason why these diseases are not present in our modern world is simply—vaccination.
–Large epidemics of diseases have been stopped and prevented from expanding due to strict regulations on vaccines.
–“As the numbers of vaccination declinations increase, more disease will inevitably follow

(“The Science of Anti-Vaccination”).
–Examples: aluminum, thimerosal and other adjuvants

*Assignment 30) From Your Source Material, Isolate 4-8 specific arguments for your essay

Example of Asmt 30,

Arguments to support childhood vaccination:
*Reliable Medical Organizations support vaccines
*Vaccines have a history of decreasing disease
*Vaccines save time and expense compared to that of the actual illness

ASMT 31) DEVELOP DATA FOR ARGUMENTS TO SUPPORT YOUR POSITION. LIST 4-8 Points
to support each argument (Be sure to keep track of any sources)

THIS DEVELOPMENT WILL MOST LIKELY INVOLVE CAREFUL CONSIDERATION OF RESEARCH MATERIAL,
STUDIES/STATISTICS/SURVEYS, ETC.
HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF ASMT 31)
ARG 1: All-time reliable (national and international) medical organizations support the distribution of vaccines to children
–because they have been proved to be safe (“Should Any Vaccines Be Required”).
–Well-known organizations such as the “Center for Disease Control, Food and Drug Administration, Institute of Medicine,
American Medical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics,” have always issued parents’ concerns towards vaccination
in a clear, informative way (“Vaccines Required for Children?).
— These major organizations have been founded on medical professionals who dedicate most of their life on the Lab.
– -research is approved and reviewed by dozens of other scientists (just like an author before releasing a new book.)
–Vaccination not only helps a person, but the community in general

ARG 2: Vaccines have developed an excellent history of gradually decreasing outbreaks of a disease.
–Examples: the polio and smallpox disease outbreaks.
–“As the numbers of vaccination declinations increase, more disease will inevitably follow” (Kiernan).
–vaccines have decreased the death among children.
“According to [a] United Nations Foundation partner organization, vaccines save 2.5 million children from preventable diseases
every year, which equates to roughly 285 children saved every hour” (“Should Any Vaccines Be Required?”).
The major percentage of prevention is proof of the immense success rates of the vaccines.
Since the very beginning of the raising of a child, health care organizations have made sure that parents vaccinate, which
have resulted on a significant reduction of death rates among children.

Assignment 32)– Find 2-3 opposing views with specific refutations relating to your argumentat
Be sure to keep track of which source opposing view is from
>>THIS DEVELOPMENT WILL MOST LIKELY INVOLVE CAREFUL CONSIDERATION OF RESEARCH
MATERIAL, STUDIES/STATISTICS/SURVEYS, ETC.
Example of Asmt 32

Opposing View 1 : Vaccines can lead to Autism and other serious disorders.
Refutation/s :
1) While some children have become autistic after vaccination, just because these issues are correlated, does not
mean that one is the direct cause of the other.
Psychological disorders, specially Autism, are not developed due to one factor only (like mandatory vaccination).
Instead these disorders are usually brought up either by means of genetics, or by unhealthy lifestyle choices.
2) The US Institute of Medicine (IOM) concluded that diseases such as encephalitis, encephalopathy, multiple
sclerosis, autism and epilepsy show no relationship with preventative vaccination (Gaspirini et al).
3) Any medical procedure comes its risks and possible side effects. No drug can ever be effective for 100% of the
population because of our varying DNA’s and immune systems. Most vaccinations have a high efficacy rate

Opposing View 2 : The government should not intervene with parental choice. And Parents should have the right to
decide what happens to their child.
Refutation/s :
But this is not the case here:
If parents choose not to vaccinate their children for no other reason rather than by “personal choice”, then those
unfortunate, severely-ill children who cannot vaccinate for strict medical reasons, run the chance of being affected
due opinions about “personal choice.”
–Although excessive government is feared by these activists, families do not live in a bubble. We live in a world
of constant interaction.
–We cannot think in a self-centered manner when it comes to disease prevention

Assignment 33: Read over your arguments, OV’s, and Refutation. WRITE A THESIS STASIS WHICH
CLEARLY STATES YOUR ARGUMENTATIVE POSITION
Thesis sentence which states your argumentative position
As discussed, the thesis is the main idea of your essay. At at bare minimum, this thesis must state your topic and
your argumentative position. If desired, you could also include an essay map.

Assignment 34: >>>>Read over your thesis, arguments, OV’s, and Refutations. Decide if you should have a separate
paragraph after your thesis which includes background information for the reader. WRITE YES OR NO –
ADDITIONAL BACKROUND INFO.
If you wrote yes, decide if you need additional sources to provide that background information. If so, find the source, list
it here, and list 4-8 major points of background information
