Reflection:
The lecture on upcoming course requirements and the introduction to the “Three Ps” (Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, and Physical Assessment) provided valuable insights into the second half of the FNP program. One aspect that surprised me was the emphasis on the interconnectedness of these three courses and their significance in clinical practice. Understanding the pathophysiological processes underlying diseases, the pharmacological interventions available, and the physical assessment skills required are essential for providing comprehensive patient care. This holistic approach to learning was new to me and highlighted the importance of integrating knowledge across disciplines.
Considering my unique work-life-school situation, my greatest concern for the second half of the FNP program is time management. Balancing the demands of coursework, clinical experiences, and personal responsibilities can be challenging. Additionally, I anticipate the need to enhance my clinical skills and gain hands-on experience during the clinical rotations. Building confidence in my ability to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings is crucial for my success as an FNP.
Goals:
3P Course Goals:
Develop a study schedule for the 3P courses and allocate dedicated time each week to review and reinforce key concepts.
Actively participate in group discussions and engage with peers to enhance understanding and exchange perspectives on pathophysiology, pharmacology, and physical assessment.
Utilize various learning resources, such as textbooks, online modules, and practice quizzes, to strengthen knowledge and proficiency in the Three Ps.
Clinical Experience Goals:
Seek mentorship opportunities during clinical rotations to learn from experienced practitioners and enhance my clinical decision-making skills.
Set aside time each week for self-reflection on clinical experiences, identifying strengths and areas for improvement, and seeking feedback from preceptors.
Actively engage in interprofessional collaboration by participating in healthcare team meetings and seeking opportunities to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
By setting specific goals, I aim to create a structured and purposeful approach to my studies and clinical experiences, ultimately ensuring my success in the FNP program.
