The agencies that fall into these three categories exist at three levels of government: local, state, and federal. An accused moves through these agencies when accused of a crime. There are key players in each agency that an accused moves through as part of the process from investigation through sentencing and appeal.For this discussion, a man is accused of aggravated battery (a state crime), based on a complaint to police by an alleged victim of the aggravated battery.
