The staging of the show is brilliant and the whole presentation is quite thrilling. I also liked Jonny Lee Miller acting as the Creature and Benedict Cumberbatch as Victor Frankenstein because I think they were able to bring out the characters so well as well the moral of the story in such as and did an amazing performance. From my perspective, I think the performance was good since there are a lot of things to learn even though sometimes in a scary way. Through the Creature character one is able to learn about isolation and how cruel the society can be, the loneliness that every person is subjected to at some point in life and what the outcome can be depending on how it is handled.
At the beginning of the performance, there is light and sooner one is able to identify a creature trapped in a sphere which is alive and what follows is portray of the difficulties and agony it has to face in the cruel world as everyone is against it due to its looks. The creature becomes an object of empathy due to his struggle with blindness, inability to speak, hunger, inability to understands human behavior and their interactions and the cruel treatment he has to face from people. Its physical looks are terrifying and one can make a judgement that its appearance might match its soul, thus capable of harming people. However, the creature is able to meet an old man who seems to understand it, he is taught how to speak and it is at this point we are able to learn that it is only through verbal communication people can understand one another rather than through physical appearance or their actions.
When the creature is able to speak, it is able to depict its actions in a different light; it is not after harming people but it is hungry, it is seeking acceptance, it is lonely and most important of it all Frankenstein left it frightened and lonely. It is even more hurt to realize that its appearance hurts people thus the only way to get people to understand it is through revenge such that even his description of why it killed William sounds rational on how Frankenstein got him to violence with his plight. By comparing his words to Victor’s. Frankenstein is Victor’s story; he has countless opportunities to argue his case and cast himself as the tragic hero of the tale. Despite his earnest—and long-winded—attempts to put himself in the right, however, Victor’s words only alienate us as they pile up. He feels little besides relief when the monster escapes; he lets the woman he creates for it go to her death rather than risk his reputation by telling the truth; he whines and prevaricates; he heartlessly abandons and scorns his own creation.
