The constitution should not include an overall criminal code applicable through the country because different states have different jurisdictional laws. Criminal codes vary from state to state others adopt the penal codes model while other states adopt the common law. This is defined by their difference in public policies that shape the nature of the criminal codes. For essence there are states where gun control is effective while others do not have any gun control polices, therefore crimes surrounding guns will differ in the two jurisdictions. Having an overall criminal codes law will limit their constitution right to create implement and enforce laws. Every us state has the sovereign right to create and regulate rights according to their needs.

There are several amendments of the united states that have been introduced over time. However, a few of those receive adequate support to go through ratification. Given a chance to propose any new amendments to the U.S constitution. I would amend the second amendment, abolishing the right to bear firearms by the citizens. The number of irresponsible cases of use of firearms are increasing and amendments to the constitution can only change the situation of mass shootings and increased gun violence. On my case, I would change the constitution to be as follows, ‘That no citizen is allowed to own, use or keep firearms.
