You have been asked to plan this evaluation. In order to evaluate the program, you must conduct a study of it. How would you proceed? What different research methods would you use, and why?

2. Conduct a content analysis of the way in which photographs in 2-3 of your textbooks convey people of different genders. Try to follow the steps in the sociological research process. Describe the process you took, and explain your findings.

3. Feminist and critical researchers believe that researchers should not be value free in their research, but should be advocates for social justice. Do you agree with this position, or do you feel that sociologists should maintain their objectivity and remain neutral about the way in which their findings are used? Why?

4. For a class project, you want to study the relationship between students’ grades and their willingness to cheat on examinations. What are some of the ethical issues to consider before you administer a survey to the other students in your class? Describe at least two ethical considerations and how you would deal with them in your study.

Question 3:
I agree with the position that researchers should be advocates for social justice rather than being value free in their research. It is important for sociologists and researchers to main their objectivity and remain neutral. However, it is more significant for the sociologists to use their findings to promote social justice in the society. It is because sociologists could help in influencing social issues and enhancing justice due to the understanding of the issues as well as they have a significant grasp of the social aspects. Thus, researchers should put more efforts in pushing for solutions to potential social problems rather than staying neutral in their findings.
According to Sue, Rasheed and Rasheed (2015 – Research Paper Writing Help Service, p.78), social activism is the best way to progress in sociology even as a professional. Sociologists often works in the community educating students how to engage with the various people. The social activism programs involve the learning of how to work with various people. The advocacy role of sociologists would help in connecting people to their future partners or employers in the society. Sociological findings are useful in promoting social justice through educating people on how to create a fair and kind society. Some of the social justice issues includes ecological sustainability, anti-discrimination, and the distribution of welfare and education.
Sociologists should put more efforts in working to push for social change. Social change usually involves continuously shifting patterns of resources and power to enhance social control and dealing with political repression. It is unrealistic for a sociologist to claim to be neutral because their discipline calls for social interventions and actions to improve social justice in the society (Asch, 2017, p.144). The efforts to address social problems forms the core element of social advocacy to improve social justice. For example, the sociologists would be able to develop social policies that helps in solving social problems. Therefore, all the sociologists should not be neutral, but they should focus on interventions and actions that resolve social problems in the society.
Question 4:
Before administering a survey to other students, there are two ethical considerations that should be addressed. The first ethical consideration is getting informed consent from each research participant. Informed consent is a critical element of ethical principles for the respect of other people and is effectively improved through allowing people to make their choice. The informed consent disclosure should give the students adequate information about the survey to be administered and the costs and benefits of making relevant choices. To ensure informed consent, it will be critical to create appropriate documentation to get oral and written informed consent. The consent information should inform the students about the relevant format for engaging the students involved in the research survey. Without informed consent, the study would be violating the key ethical values and principles.
The second ethical consideration is the respect of the students and protecting the rights of privacy and confidentiality of the students. Upholding the respect and privacy rights of the students is a key ethical consideration while conducting research survey (Bryman, 2016: 2024 – Do my homework – Help write my assignment online, p.78). The ethical aspect will help in meeting the ethical and legal responsibilities towards the students. It is relevant to gather reliable data about the students and create a positive experience in conducting the research survey. During the administration of the survey about the student grades and potential of cheating is critical to respect their privacy and confidentiality. For example, if they want their grades kept private, the survey should not put the names and grades of the students on public records. As a result, maintaining the student’s information private and confidential will help in convincing the students to take part in the research study.
