Question description
Introduction
Actually over the years, women had been considered to be the
homemakers especially with the development of the nuclear families. The best
place that would be selected for any women was in the homes. It is until the
1950s that the women started being seen to active in different issues including
in the criminal justice system (Laureate Education, Inc. 2011). Some events
have eventually changed the way people thought of women in criminal. The women
have finally gone up the ranks from the female police officers to the positions
that they are holding to modern day. Women suffered a lot over many years given
that they were discriminated over many issues and would not have experienced
the same privileges as their men counterpart had.
Rise of women in law enforcement
Like any other issue in the American history, the
problem of evolutions of female professionals in criminal justice has been
characterized by a series of social-historical event. Some of these
developments are what shaped the role of women professionals in criminal
justice which has made it to the modern day woman in criminal justice.
The development of the women’s movements in the 1960s through 1970s prompted
women to take up significant roles in police departments. Women’s movement was
complimented at this time with the development of law. Since the issue of the
Indianapolis Police Department, policewomen took the charge of patrol most of
the major roles followed suit.
Actually the police officers failed to recognize the problem
of discrimination in the department. Since the first woman police officers
joined the criminal justice department, women were less seen as officers and
would rather be considered to be social workers. They were being denied full
duties of police officers and this professional was majorly seen as a social
workmanship.
Pioneers of equality in criminal justice
Elizabeth Robinson and Betty Blankenship
were the first patrol police offices. It is through these women that the whole
criminal justice system changed. The revolution saw the full police duties
given to women in the departments with most of them being admitted to other
areas of the penal justice. The event was an eye opener to the issue of hiring
women in the department.
The game changed the whole thing of considering women weaker in the areas of
criminal justice since these women seemed to be very committed and dedicated to
their work. They led to the way women were taken by their fellow men in
different workplaces. Essentially, the two women are simply the pioneers of
equality in law enforcement and other areas where the women had been despised.
Conclusion
Over the years, the department has changed; more women have been admitted to
different areas of law enforcement and criminal justice in general. It is
through the persistence and courage that led to the event which has changed the
professional regarding admitting women (Belknap, 2015 – Research Paper Writing Help Service). With the support of the
women movement and such event, the face of the profession has reflected
equality over the years.

I really found
this journal to interested because it examines how the female police officers
are used as decoy sex workers. One question I would reflect with these officers
is how might this impact their own internal ego and what steps are needed
mentally to do their job as an undercover officer as a sex worker. Similar to
the profile in becoming the serial killer. Any thoughts on this?
