Research Method

Research Method
Research methodology is an integral part of a research paper. It provides the basis for gathering and analyzing data in presenting the findings of a study. For instance, the choice for either qualitative, quantitative or mixed research methods should conform to the type of data to be collected during the survey process and the purpose of the study. Other factors influencing the validity of the reported data should also be evaluated to ensure that the findings of a study are reliable and consistent thereby predicting the approval criteria of the research hypothesis. As such, analyzing the research methods to be adopted in researching the global impacts of Coronavirus on public health is crucial in formulating necessary steps in conducting such research and explaining essential strategies to enhance the study’s validity.
Research Questions
Is COVID 19 a global health problem?
Has COVID 19 affected the public health supply chain?
Does COVID 19 have a positive impact on the health supply chain?
Research Methods
The study will adopt a descriptive research design in presenting its findings. Both qualitative and quantitative methods will also be used to report the data gathered from primary sources. The data collection methods will include both primary and secondary data sources. For instance, the study will review the past literature studies conducted to report findings on the global impacts of COVID 19 on public health. The review will be guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) standards to systematically review and collect crucial information from both the published and unpublished literary texts. The primary source of data to be used in gathering data will include telephone interviewees and e-surveys. The study will adopt a survey questionnaire in conducting interviews with the information to be collected grouped into three groups consisting of the positive, negative and challenges associated with the COVID 19 infection.
The survey questionnaire will consist of both open-ended and closed-ended questions. A purposive sampling technique will also be used to identify the research’s targeted population to represent the entire global population. The targeted population will consist of 20 African respondents, 30 Asian residents and 50 American nationals as samples representing the global population. These persons will respond to the research questions to provide the respondent’s experience with the COVID 19 pandemic and their perception of both the negative and positive effects of COVID 19 and its challenges on public health. The researchers will finally engage in brainstorming ideas in sorting data and conducting a correlation analysis of the interview findings. Each cluster of data will be analyzed to assess their validity and reliability in representing the research results.
Threats Associated with the Validity of the Study.
Several anticipated threats to the research validity may include the probability of obtaining unrelated events influencing the study’s outcome. For instance, other chronic health problems may affect the health of the global society and may be mistakenly attributed to Coronavirus. In other cases, the resulting outcome may vary due to time-lapse, a natural phenomenon free from human errors. Using different measures during both the study’s pre-test and post-test of the findings may also significantly affect the research outcome by rendering the research variables incomparable during data analysis. Other factors undermining the validity of the research results would also include adopting unrelated survey groups at the beginning of the experiment and respondents’ dropout from the research interview process.
Various threats to research validity, such as the variations in survey reports relating to time-lapse and the dropout of research participants, are less influenced by the survey observers and, therefore, may appropriately be ignored to have little influence on the validity of the survey data. However, several strategies may be adopted to minimize some of the identified threats to validity. For instance, incorporating a control group during the survey process may be appropriate in encountering result variations associated with the use of diverse targeted populations. It would also be advisable to use filter-tasks or questions that do not directly specify the purpose of the study in avoiding respondent’s pre-informed judgment that could render them drop out from the interview process.
Project Plan
The proposed project will utilize several research tools such as past studies, checklists, surveys, observational items, including group concept mapping, rating scales, purposive sampling, regression, and correlation techniques in data collection and analysis. The findings will finally be presented in tables. The project team will sample 38 past studies relating to the research topic and review these texts to form the theoretical concepts of the study. The survey process will take four months to be completed. The survey will further adopt a group concept mapping in identifying the global population’s experience on the impacts of COVID 19 on public health. Both telephone and internet communication channels will be used in communicating with the respondent groups from the African, Asan and American continent to represent the global population. The reported data will then be presented for analysis and is estimated to take one month. The study will involve two counts, with the first requires brainstorming of results while the second involving the grouping of data into themes and rated with a Likert scale. Subsequently, the information will be presented for further analysis involving data coding, regression and correlated analysis. Finally, the research findings will be reported and incorporated with the theoretical part of the project.
The analysis of the research methods to be adopted in conducting study research on the global impacts of Coronavirus on public health plays a crucial role in formulating the research steps and recommending necessary strategies to enhance the study’s validity. Both qualitative and quantitative research methods enhance the effectiveness of gathering and presenting the study’s data. To enhance the research’s validity, it is also necessary to incorporate a control group during the survey process and adopt filter tasks or questions that do not directly specify the purpose of the study. This is crucial in enhancing the inter-rater validity associated with the diverse targeted populations. Such procedures will help improve the reliability and consistency of the research findings.
