Question description
The case involving two Brooklyn men
who attacked two Ecuadorian brothers and killed one of them was highly
publicized. Summaries of the various stages of the case, from trial to retrial
and conviction to sentencing, appear in many media outlets, each with a unique
spin and tone.
The Daily News expressed rather explicit opinions about
the case, describing Phoenix and co-defendant Scott as “heartless hate crime
thugs” who “drove to the Bronx for a night of more partying and skirt-chasing”
after committing the assault (Marzulli, 2010 – Essay Writing Service: Write My Essay by Top-Notch Writer). The New York Times used
less judgmental language to describe the case, although some would argue that
undertones of bias were still present.
