There are many things that affect how employees feel about their jobs. However, leaders have a big impact on the work environment because of their position in the organization and the way they interact with employees every day (Avolio et al, 2009). Leaders can create a good place to work for their staff while also helping to take care of patients. This can lead to better patient outcomes and better care. If nurse managers see a leader who is doing things, they are more likely to follow suit and be more involved in care. To improve staffing measures, it’s important to show that you care about your staff, that they are safe to do their jobs to the best of their abilities, and that you regularly check on their job satisfaction. It’s important to let management know how important it is to have enough staff to keep both the staff and the patients safe.

Reviewing staffing patterns and work schedules on a regular basis is important. You should also share your thoughts and ideas with staff about overtime, staffing problems, and the right and safe ratio of patients to staff. You should also remind them that management is aware of staffing problems and what is being done about them right now. It’s important to give them positive feedback and thank them for all the work they do every day. It’s also important to stress the importance of working as a team to give patients good, safe care.

There are different jobs for a nurse leader and a nurse manager. A nurse leader usually doesn’t do as much hands-on work and spends more time setting policies and keeping an eye on quality measurements. They are also responsible for the overall quality and delivery of patient care, patient and staff satisfaction, and achieving the organization’s mission and vision. Not all nurse leaders work this way. In my current job as Director of Nursing, I am considered a nurse leader, but I prefer to be more hands-on with staffing issues, patient care, and making sure that families are happy as well. Staffing problems are caused by things like stress, burnout, injuries, and bad care. Supportive leaders give clear feedback, ask team members for their input on decisions that affect their work, care about their followers’ health and well-being, and show appreciation for people’s work (West et al, 2022).

A nurse manager’s job is to make sure that everything runs smoothly on the units. She is also involved in the daily tasks and details of planning patient care and making sure that staff is meeting goals. The nurse manager makes sure that the staff on the units do their jobs correctly and in a professional way. Managers are looked to for help, direction, and communication. Nurse managers can also help improve staffing measures to make sure patients get the right amount of nursing care. They can do this by helping with hands-on care when the units are short-staffed and by advocating to nurse leaders for the right amount of staffing, making sure they know how important it is to give safe, effective, high-quality care to their patients. Nurse managers can help keep their staff motivated by making the workplace a happy place and recognizing the hard work that the staff does every day. It’s important to reward good behavior and hard work after they’ve been done, and to let staff know how much you appreciate their work when things are hard.

I think it’s important to show that you can be a good leader. Even though my job title is “Director of Nursing” and I am a nurse leader, I don’t let that stop me from working as a “cart nurse,” “desk nurse,” “nursing assistant,” “meal helper,” “wound care helper,” or in any other way that I can help my team take care of patients. Having a good nurse leader can have a big impact on staffing and how well patients do. It’s important to thank and help your staff as much as you can every day. High-quality, always-improving, and caring care for patients depends on strong leadership, which sets the stage for high-quality, always-improving, and caring care for staff (West et al, 2022).
