This memo is intended to bring to your attention some leadership and management issues that have come up in our organization that require urgent action. There is an instance that has occurred that has left us worried about the qualities of leadership that we have or that we are expending in this organization.
As healthcare professionals and leaders, we should all have leadership qualities that enable us to put all nurses in a position to be able to provide the best healthcare services to patients. As a nurse leader, first, we should have emotional intelligence. Every one of us should work closely with all the trainees to help them develop emotional intelligence. This means that in order to pass on the same knowledge to a nurse trainee, you must first be emotionally intelligent as a leader and manager.
As leaders, we should all have integrity in delivering our services. We should treat our clients who are patients with respect and show how valuable they are to our profession. A nurse leader should also be able to think critically and come up with new ways to help patients get out of difficult situations and illnesses. Our priority is to help patients recover, not to watch them die. We should also be dedicated to excellence. If you are a leader, you should never allow failure to define you. Recently, for example, there is a case of a patient who has passed away in our facility under some questionable circumstances, and one of us should be responsible for this, according to the report. This shows that this leader is not dedicated to excellence. We should be good communicators. Any patient who comes here should be received by someone who is ready to listen to them and offer them the best services.
Concerning the incidence that has occurred, where one patient has passed on in circumstances that are not well understood, I will personally collect data regarding this incidence by the use of questionnaires, and these questionnaires will be distributed to all nurses so that I can get a better understanding of what the problem was and what the problem is in this organization. If it is realized that it is as a result of a fault by one of us, there will be severe consequences.
In this investigation, we shall employ the use of transformational leadership styles. This means that there will be changes in individuals as well as social systems in this healthcare facility. This style will influence the process of investigating the culprit in the case in which a patient passed on because of their negligence. This is because the nurse responsible for this act may not face the required judgement as they may be feared to be one of the leaders of the organization.
