Journal Argument Presentation
Each student will select a journal article from the topics decided in class. Students will present
data from the article that identifies the thesis/argument and its supporting evidence.
Presentations should be no longer than 10 minutes. You can select any media-related article that
contains an argument.
Presentations will be graded based on the following criteria:
• Identification of central themes, including the author-cited significance of the study
• Identification of the central argument/thesis
• Identification of supporting evidence used to support the central argument
• Identification of any counterevidence used, and the treatment of that evidence by the
author
• Explanation of how the author connected the evidence used to support the argument to
the argument
• Analysis and interpretation of the elements of the article including your reflection on the
article’s accuracy in its presentation of the argument
