Our topic is about this question” Is selective termination ethical?”
Our side is that we SAY YES.
My side to talk about is to answer these questions:
Why controversial?
1. An explanation of why it is controversial. Which group(s) tend to be accepting vs. rejecting of the topic? Why?
2. What conflicting values (e.g. individual vs. community, truth vs. loyalty, justice vs. mercy, short-term vs. long-term, etc.) are presented by each side?
3. Arguments supporting your assigned side
Include 3-5 persuasive arguments for your assigned side of the issue.

Is Selective Termination Ethical?
Selective termination is a topic that creates huge debate in the society. Selective termination is defined as the process of reducing the number of the fetuses in multifetal pregnancy. It helps to reduce the twin pregnancy to singletone pregnancy. Most abortions occur when the pregnancy was unplanned or the pregnancy places the mother at high risk. In most occasions, selective termination is done because of medical problems which allowing the progression of the pregnancy endangers the health of the women (Chalouhi, et al.113). It can also occur when the fetus are perceived to contain some undesirable features. Even the selective termination procedure raise various ethical issues, selective termination is largely ethical because it helps to save lives.
Selective termination is considered highly controversial because it is similar to abortion, which cuts the life of the unborn children. It interferes with the normal lives of the multiple fetuses in the uterus. The controversy is mainly among the community, but individual persons agree that procedure is mainly ethical (Abramsky and Jean 57). The community might have a negative view of the selective termination approach, but individual women support the procedure.
Religious groups and prolife activist groups have campaigned heavily against selective termination. These groups argue that the procedure cuts the life of the unborn fetus, which can be said to be murder. It is because they belief that life starts after the mother conceives. In contrast, the medical professionals claim that the procedure is ethical. It is because in most cases it is inevitable to perform selective termination to protect the lives of the pregnant mothers. The religious and prolife organizations advocates for justice rather that the truth (Chalouhi, et al.112). At times, the medical professionals are forced to perform the procedure to avoid complications during birth for the mothers. Therefore, selective termination is ethical because it focuses on protecting the lives of the pregnant mothers.
