GEN WK3 DB2 Response2 (75 Words)

Explain at least five differences between popular and scholarly sources used in research
Scholarly sources
1. Accurate and reliable
2. peer reviewed
3. references
4. footnotes
5. no advertising or very little
Popular Sources
1. Article will  Have  advertising
2. The article can be written by  anyone
3. Articles are reviewed by a editor not by an expert
4. Article will not have references
5. Article will not have foot notes
Locate and summarize one peer-reviewed, scholarly source from the Ashford University Library and one popular source that pertain to your Final Paper topic. In your summary of each article, comment on the following: biases, reliability, strengths, and limitations.
In the article Years of Refugee Life Challenges for a new beginning : Stay or return Home
The article talks about how two decades of refugees needs consensus and political will and requires involvement of international community, international organizations, non government organizations and refugee associations to help with this crisis. This article has a lot of DATA including history, percentages and graphs. This article strengths are that it is giving facts with percentages and history so this makes the author not Bias just stating facts. I think with all the DATA that is in this article makes the article reliable The author also has references to back up his writing to make the article stronger and reliable.
The popular article I  Found was ” Syrian  Refugee Crisis How to Help” is a article that gives the history of how the refugee crisis started and talk about how the people of Syria are suffering for example the children, women and  the elderly because there is lake of water sources, children not getting an education and medical expenses are high. At the end of the article they are asking you to donate money to the Syrian Refugees. This article show bias because it has one point of view and want the reader to feel sympathy and give money. The strengths of the article is that is does have some of the history of the Syrian crisis and does have facts, but it is not reliable and was not written by a credible source. This article is to focus the reader on the crisis issue and hope the reader has sympathy for the refuges.
From the sources you summarized, list and explain at least five visual cues from the peer-reviewed, scholarly source that were not evident in the popular source
The five visual clues I saw in the peer reviewed scholarly source was
1. No advertising ( Pictures )
2. References
3. The article had some citations
4. The article had Acknowledgments
5. The article has an author
