In the cases where delinquency has already occurred, the issues should be addressed through building protective barriers that allow the child to develop more secure environment and avoid problems in the future for them now and when they are adults.
Over the years, juvenile delinquency in adolescents and pre-adolescent kids has been associate with several reasons. There has been scientific investigation advanced on juvenile delinquency in the last twenty years. On the micro level, socio-economic and psychological factors include the background of the parents, behavior and their approach towards disciplining the children. On the macro and micro levels, the primary reasons behind delinquent actions are inequality and poverty.
Poor school attendance is among the most influential factors leading to juvenile delinquency. Juveniles should attend school to learn and grow within a structured routine that gives purpose and a goal to be accomplished each day. In school, the children face the routine of getting up, preparation, attendance, completion of work and going home. The routine establishes a routine that creates a strong foundation for making good choices in the future. Thereby, whenever the children are not encouraged to be involved in the routine they lose on the establishment of good habits. Having free time for children allows them to get time to learn other undesirable habits that will not contribute in the enhancement of their lives and their futures. Failure to follow the set routine instills the children the sense that they do not have to comply with the set societal norms.
Personality and human behavior are complex factors that can not be established with certainty to cause a specific behavior. Therefore, it is complex to come to the understanding why an adolescent would commit delinquent actions from a factor like poverty. There is the possibility to predict the factors that result to delinquent behavior in adolescents. Research studies have concluded that a mix of personal factors and environmental factors contribute to juvenile delinquency.
Physical factors, especially the human body contribute to delinquent behavior. Physical factors are commonly considered hereditary while the environment is involved in shaping the body. The exposure of a person to the environment influences them either negatively or positively. For instance, a child that is born with poor genetic make up may live up to improve when exposed to positive environment. Development abnormalities and genetic issues form a strong physical factor that pulls juvenile towards delinquency. Therefore, children with development complications should be raised in an environment full of positive motivation and encouragement to form a completely healthy individual. The environment should provide a platform to learn ways to cope with their problems.

Mental and psychological factors have great influence in shaping a person’s behavior. In juveniles there two side of mental abilities that should be considered. There are adolescents that possess excessive intelligence there are those that will excel and help the society while there those that will choose to become dangerous. Children with low intelligence might work hard towards overcoming their low IQ and other follow the path to become more aggressive. Most children get the urge of dominance from their parents where they feel they do not want to be under control and power of others. Most parents and teachers have to deal with the behavior of dominance among children which needs a lot of skill. There are cases where the child does not get the chance to display their urge for dominance among peers and as a result to bringing it out using other delinquent ways in the environment. Egocentricism is also a mental factor that make adolescent easily angry, aggressive and wanting to prove a point of view. When that behavior is not addressed and dealt with carefully, the adolescent results to finding a bad way to satisfy their egocentric emotions.
Mental abnormalities are constant frustration to a child which can lead to development of delinquent actions. Delinquent actions such as sex offence among the youth come as the adolescent seeks to justify their developmental abilities among their peers. Children with mental abnormalities also involves with the inappropriate use of weapons. The reason behind the negative behavior is to try to use excessive energy that they have and other cannot control their actions. Emotional instability triggers delinquent behavior. Emotions such as grief, sadness, anger and aggressiveness develop in the young age of juvenile and should be dealt with earlier. The children acquire the unstable emotions from parents in situations when they become unstable because of chaos and confusion at the home.
Mental conflicts that children experience among peers, siblings, parents and teachers trigger negative emotions in children. When faced with mental conflict, children will tend to be offensive in one way or another. The children will seek to be heard and approved by requiring the adult to listen and consider their point of view in trying to resolve the issues. When mental conflicts are left unresolved for a longer period of time, the children develop the habit of getting in conflict with other people over small matters. It is important to teachers and parents to teach them ways to resolve conflicts and avoid debates whenever possible.
