Task

Evaluate the reasons why organisations should consider introducing and enhancing more sustainable practices in Aotearoa/New Zealand and related barriers/constraints. Resources are provided on EITonline (Module 1-3), but you will also need to conduct your independent research to study the Aotearoa/NZ context.

Guidelines:

Briefly outline what organisational sustainability means (including its different dimensions)

Drivers: evaluate internal and external drivers for organisations to become more socially/culturally and environmentally sustainable in Aotearoa/NZ, including economic sustainability drivers.

Constraints: evaluate internal and external constraints that can make it difficult for organisations to introduce social/cultural and environmental sustainability initiatives in Aotearoa/NZ, including economic sustainability related constraints.

Use two theories/theoretical lenses from a list of four (paradox theory, business case view, stakeholder theory, institutional theory) to further evaluate how the theories can help us understand why organisational sustainability initiatives take (or do not take) place. Choose and familiarise yourself with two of the following: paradox theory, business case view, stakeholder theory, institutional theory
