Similarly, in the Islamic Golden Age, religious scholars and institutions played a key role in the preservation and advancement of knowledge in fields such as mathematics, astronomy, and medicine.
Religion has also had a positive impact on innovation through the promotion of artistic and architectural creativity. Many religious traditions place a high value on artistic expression, and as a result, religious institutions have often been patrons of the arts, commissioning works of art and architecture that have had a profound impact on cultural and architectural development. On the other hand, religion can also have a negative impact on innovation.
