Evidence-Based Practice

Introduction
Evidence-based practices (EBP) in pressure sore or ulcers prevention and drug abuse prevention have been the ultimate point of focus for healthcare facilities. As asserted by Katrin Balzer (2015 – Research Paper Writing Help Service), the current shift to patient or value centered practice has resulted in the formulation of various strategies to curb the issue. Pressure ulcers have been known to impact the government financially and also cause associated illnesses which end up increasing the patients’ fatality rates. Drug abuse which is the use of un-prescribed drugs has been in a rise in the 21st century. Most individuals especially the youths have found themselves entangled in this menace. As affirmed by Abracen & Looman (2016: 2024 – Do my homework – Help write my assignment online), substance abuse is highly attributed to family factors, individual factors, and the environmental impacts. In carrying out research, the three methods utilized usually include the mixed research, qualitative, and the quantitative research. According to Polit & Beck (2017), in generating and assessing evidence for nursing practices the three research reviews techniques are the mixed studies, meta-analysis, and the meta-synthesis. From in-depth analysis or review of an article, falsifying or misleading information will be reduced hence leading to accurateness of the research.
Body
Pressure ulcers usually arise as a result of the improper service delivery in a hospital facility (Balzer, & Kottner, 2015 – Research Paper Writing Help Service). Some include the inappropriate turning of the patient and excessive laying on one side. As a result of the continued subjection of pressure on one side, the pressure is built up hence leading to pressure sores. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has recognized pressure sores or ulcers as hospital-acquired illnesses (HAIs) (Howell, Conway, & Rajkumar, 2015 – Research Paper Writing Help Service). There are various prevention measures against pressures ulcers. They include the use of foam mattress, recommended exercise, changing positions frequently, and keeping the skin dry and clear (Balzer, & Kottner, 2015 – Research Paper Writing Help Service). The research focuses on the effect of foam mattresses as compared to other intervention measures amongst the older adults living in nursing homes. The research was conducted for more than four months. Foam mattress is one of the prevention measures which has been embraced by the healthcare providers. According to Bhattacharya & Mishra (2015 – Research Paper Writing Help Service), foam mattress serves two purposes which are the prevention of pressure ulcers as well as facilitating the healing process. Thus with the old adults who are a risk of suffering from the pressure ulcer, the foam mattress is the best alternative. As compared with other prevention measures such as profiling bed, foam mattresses do not completely heal but only prevents. However, the foam mattresses are cost-effective as compared with the profiling bed. Hence foam mattresses are good at preventing the menace.
According to Kuhn (2017), substance abuse majorly opioids is rising on an annual basis. The abuse of these opioids is highly attributed to family factors that is a family influence, individual factors like the employment or lack of employment, and finally environmental factors which includes friends or peer pressure.
In analyzing any literature, the three forms of analysis employed includes the mixed analysis, qualitative and the quantitative reviews (Schneider, & Preckel, 2017). From this, the reviewed literature is then analyzed for their validity. Each research method has its advantages and disadvantages. To critically examine data or the check for the credibility and reliability of study, the important elements to be considered include the type of population, population size, type of study, measuring technique, and finally the units of analysis (Schneider, & Preckel, 2017). With this, the credibility of the study can be proved. Depending on the validity of the data or research, both qualitative and the quantitative reviews are both scientific methods of research review.

Conclusion
In conclusion, in applying the research reviews methods, the validity of research can averred. Pressure ulcers have caused the government huge sum of money over the last decade. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has recognized pressure sores or ulcers as hospital-acquired illnesses (HAIs). With this, to avoid the continued persistence of the ailment, CMS developed a regulation emphasizing that each healthcare facility will have to gather for the costs associated with the pressure ulcer. Their approach has seen the cases of pressure illnesses drop significantly. This has allowed the healthcare facility to develop its Medicare strategy. One of the strategies which have been used to prevent pressure ulcers is the foam mattresses. These mattresses increase the surface area thus distributing the force equally across a wide area. With this, the pressure subjected per unit area is reduced in the run. Additionally, foam mattresses are cost-effective as compared with other means of preventing pressure ulcers such as the profiling bed.
Substance abuse has been in the rise. Curbing against this menace has been the ultimate aim for many institutions such as the correctional facilities and motivation groups. With the rising cases of opioid abuse, monitoring and advising the young generation about the impacts of drug abuse will lead to reduced abuse of these drugs. To vividly understand this, the review of research can be analyzed in three modes; mixed research, qualitative and quantitative research. A thorough review of research aids in checking on the validity of the study. From the scientific perceptive, both the qualitative and quantitative review methods are scientific.
