Legalization of Same-Sex Marriage
Same-sex marriage also termed as gay marriage is the marriage between two couple of same-sex either in religious or civil ceremony setting. As a result of the due process, both the gay people and the heterosexuals ought to enjoy the same privileges as stipulated in the constitution. The core motivation for legalizing same-sex marriage is to ensure peace, happiness and love prevail in every individual’s life.
Same-sex marriage does not also hurt the heterosexuals in the long run (Arango). Each culture has its social norms. For instance, Catholic families raise their children as per the church teachings. Heterosexual marriages have suffered various setbacks such as divorce. In conclusion, the debate about same-sex marriage has raised diverse points of view from both the Federal judicial system, psychologist, and individuals. The proponents are arguing that illegalizing same-sex marriage will deprive the gay and lesbian couples their constitutional rights and also violate America’s basic principle of democracy as stipulated in the civil unions and both the 5th and 14th Amendments of the constitution. However, the opponents assert that legalizing same-sex marriage will lead to a violation of God’s creation and also undercutting of marriage sexual fidelity. Moreover, based on the rights and privileges accorded in the US constitution, it is both ethical and lawful to protect and preserve the rights of all the American Citizens thus same-sex marriage ought to be legalized.
