Formulate a topic or question to write on, where old age intersects with another social position, e.g. social class, disability/functionality, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity. In your paper, analyze how age as a social position intersects with your chosen point of intersection and why this is relevant. For example, what does the intersection of these social positions mean for the services and care of older people in that group? Are there dilemmas involved and for whom? Are there different contrasting perspectives, or cases of double discrimination? Motivate your essay topic from its social relevance and explore the topic using any of the theoretical underpinnings mentioned in the course (lifecourse perspective, discourse, intersectionality) or another theory that you might have in mind. You are required to use at least one scientific article in your essay (of course you may also use more), but you may also use internet resources, articles, books and policy- and government documents if relevant to your topic.
