DISCUSSION QUESTION:Suppose you are asked to help a young mother choose the infant care center that will be most likely to stimulate her one-year old son’s brain development.  Based on what you have learned in Chapter 2 (VISUAL VORTEX), write a paragraph about what biological psychology research tells you about the role of the environment on brain development. Does the research provide a useful guide for choosing the best day-care center? Why or why not?  Respond to one other classmates’ post for full credit.RESPOND TO THIS POST:A young mother has asked me to help her choose the best daycare for her newborn. I would suggest a daycare that fits what she wants to see in her child throughout life. When kids are young, that is where personalities and actions not only develop but solidify as well, so you must feed them exactly what they need or else something you do not want may solidify in your child. With that being said, I would suggest a daycare that lets the children socialize and play so the newborn will be active and knows how to speak when talked to. I would also suggest that the childs environment is key to development and its important that they are not in a bad environment because children interpret actions they see, including the bad actions which can become a habit and then lead to a personality. I would suggest that this daycare have other children of the same age because its better for them to develop off each other than off a group of older children that fill their heads with information you don’t want because young children so easily take in what they see, hear, and learn in just one setting. That will lead to reenactment of actions you may not be comfortable with as the mother of the young child. I would suggest to the mother that she should choose a daycare that suits what she wants her child to develop in and grow off.
