Unethical behavior in a nursing Master’s program can have serious consequences for both the individual student and the profession as a whole. One example of unethical behavior in a nursing Master’s program is plagiarism. Plagiarism, which is the act of presenting someone else’s work as one’s own, is considered a serious violation of academic integrity and can result in disciplinary action, including failure of a course or expulsion from the program.

In a study conducted by (Liu, et al, 2017), it was found that plagiarism among graduate nursing students is a prevalent issue, with nearly 20% of students admitting to committing plagiarism in their coursework. The study also found that students who engaged in plagiarism were more likely to have a lower grade point average and were less likely to complete their program. This not only harms the individual student, but it also undermines the credibility and integrity of the nursing profession as a whole.

Unethical behavior in nursing practice can also have serious consequences for both the individual nurse and the patients they care for. One example of unethical behavior in nursing practice is medication errors. Medication errors, which occur when a nurse administers the wrong medication or the wrong dose of medication to a patient, can have serious and even fatal consequences.

In a study conducted by (Bates, et al, 1995), it was found that medication errors are a common problem in hospitals, with approximately 1.5 million medication errors occurring each year in the United States. The study also found that medication errors are often the result of nurses not following established protocols or neglecting to double-check medication orders before administering them. These types of errors can not only harm patients, but also damage the reputation of the nursing profession and lead to legal action against the nurse and facility.
