The Nurse Leader as Knowledge Worker
The concept of a knowledge worker was coined by Peter Drucker. Peter Drucker was the one who came up with the idea of a “knowledge worker.” The goal was to show appreciation for people who help healthcare and other organizations with their specialized and technical knowledge. People who work in nursing as knowledge workers collect data and look at health trends (Harden et al., 2017). Trends help improve the quality of care by informing practices that are based on facts.
