Assignment: Agenda Comparison Grid and Fact Sheet

Global Health Comparison

Assignment: Agenda Comparison Grid and Fact Sheet or Talking Points Brief
It may seem to you that healthcare has been a national topic of debate among political leaders for as long as you can remember.
Healthcare has been a policy item and a topic of debate not only in recent times but as far back as the administration of the second U.S. president, John Adams. In 1798, Adams signed legislation requiring that 20 cents per month of a sailor’s paycheck be set aside for covering their medical bills. This represented the first major piece of U.S. healthcare legislation, and the topic of healthcare has been woven into presidential agendas and political debate ever since.
As a healthcare professional, you may be called upon to provide expertise, guidance and/or opinions on healthcare matters as they are debated for inclusion into new policy. You may also be involved in planning new organizational policy and responses to changes in legislation. For all of these reasons you should be prepared to speak to national healthcare issues making the news. This was the first major piece of healthcare legislation in the United States. Since then, healthcare has been a big part of presidential agendas and political debate.
As a healthcare professional, you may be asked to share your knowledge, give advice, or give your opinion on healthcare issues that are being talked about in order to make new policies. You might also help come up with new organizational policies and ways to deal with changes in the law. Because of all these things, you should be ready to talk about national health issues that are in the news.
In this Assignment, you will analyze recent presidential healthcare agendas. You also will prepare a fact sheet to communicate the importance of a healthcare issue and the impact on this issue of recent or proposed policy.

Global Health Comparison Grid

Global Healthcare Issue COVID 19 PANDEMIC

Description
This was a pandemic caused by the corona virus and it greatly impacted the world between 2020-to date

Country United States
China
Describe the policy in each country related to the identified healthcare issue
(1) The US has adopted a vaccination policy for COVID-19 and in line with the WHO global health agenda. The US is requiring all individuals who have been exposed to COVID-19 to be vaccinated immediately, at home or in their workplace, if possible (Kantamneni et al., 2020).

(2) The US has created a national COVID-19 response plan which requires states and localities to activate their existing plans within 60 days of being notified by CDC. States will also have access to additional funding through a new federal grant program that is designed to support state and local governments’ efforts to address COVID-19 (Kantamneni et al.,2020).

(3) The US has also funded a COVID-19 research and development effort that aims to enable researchers across the country to accelerate their work on developing new tools and technologies that can be used to prevent or manage this pandemic.

The China national/federal health policies that have been adapted for the COVID 19 global health issue from the WHO global health agenda are:

1.Prevention and control of pandemic diseases, including mandatory vaccination and quarantine measures, restrictions on travel and trade, and public information campaigns;

2.Strengthening surveillance systems and research capacities;

3.Health promotion and disease prevention through education, community engagement and mobilization of populations;

4.Improvements in health care delivery systems, including improvements in infrastructure as well as provision of essential medicines;

5.Development of new drugs and vaccines, rapid testing of new diagnostic tools and rapid response teams to respond to outbreaks or disasters;

6.Provision of basic social protection during emergencies; 7

8. Strengthening national capacity building (e.g., through training) in healthcare delivery systems management, infection control practices, public health governance and surveillance (Kantamneni et al.,2020).
What are the strengths of this policy? The strengths of the policies of U.S. national/federal health policies that have been adapted for covid 19 is that they are being implemented by all levels of government, including local governments and state and federal agencies. This will ensure that the policies are carried out effectively throughout the country, which will help reduce the spread of infection and help people prepare for pandemic.

The national/federal health policies of China have been adapted for COVID-19. The following are the strengths of this adaptation process.

1) China has a centralized policy making process and the governments at all levels have access to the same information and data. This allows them to be more efficient in their decision-making process, which is critical given that they are having to deal with such a large outbreak.

2) China has a very effective public health system. The government has made sure that there are enough trained people in the country to deal with this pandemic, as well as a network of hospitals and clinics throughout the country that can provide care for those who need it (Kantamneni et al.,2020).

3)The government has been extremely proactive in sharing information about what they are doing with their citizens, both online and in person. This gives them an opportunity to reach out to those who might not be able to get information elsewhere or choose not to get it at all because they do not want their family members exposed to any risk.
What are the weaknesses of this policy?
The main weakness of this policy adopted by U.S. national/federal health policies that have been adapted for coronavirus 19 is that it does not address the prevention of large-scale pandemic transmission. The new policies focus on quarantine, isolation and rapid response to outbreaks, which are important but not enough to prevent the spread of infection.

The weaknesses of this policy adopted by China national/federal health policies that have been adapted for covid 19 is that it does not address the social determinants of health which are the major factors that influence health (Kantamneni et al.,2020). The policies do not also address the need for continuing education programs, training and support for communities to deal with the epidemic.

The other weakness is that there is a lack of coordination among government agencies in China, regional governments and local governments. This leads to an imbalance in who has responsibility to respond to the new pandemic threat. There is also little focus on how people can work together across borders.
Explain how the social determinants of health may impact the specified global health issue. (Be specific and provide examples)
The social determinants of health are a set of factors that determine the health status of a population. These include issues such as income, employment, education and wealth. In the case of covid 19 pandemic, the social determinants are likely to impact on how people in the U.S. will cope with the disease.

Income is likely to affect how people cope with COVID-19 by influencing their access to resources such as food and medicine as well as their ability to pay for these items or services (Kantamneni et al.,2020). For example, if someone has a low income, they may not be able to afford to buy food or medicine or even time off work for treatment so may have to work extra hours at work or cut back on other activities such as hobbies or spending time with family because these are things that are important for most people.

Employment status could also affect how people cope with COVID-19 by influencing their ability to access healthcare services. For example if someone has a poor employment record, then this may limit their ability to access healthcare services because they may not be able to pay for them and therefore won’t receive any treatment until they’re ill enough that they can’t work anymore (e.g., chemo treatment). The social determinants of health may impact covid 19 pandemic issue in the CHINA.

The social determinants of health are the structural, environmental and attitudinal conditions that operate as barriers to health or are associated with health status (Boffito et al., 2021). These include poverty, education, employment, housing, and access to healthy food and clean water. In addition, social relationships (family structure) and cultural norms (including gender norms) also play a role in how people behave towards one another.

Poverty and other social determinants of health can lead to risk behaviors including smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, and using illicit drugs (Boffito et al., 2021). This can increase the risk for developing cancers such as lung cancer that is caused by smoking tobacco products. Poverty also impacts access to quality healthcare by causing financial strain on families who must choose between paying for food or healthcare bills.
How has each country’ government addressed cost, quality, and access to the selected global health issue?
The United States government has been addressing the cost, quality, and access to COVID-19 global health issue by increasing funding for research and development of new drugs. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) also works with companies to create more effective vaccines. In addition, the government has been using social media to educate people about how to protect themselves from the virus.

China has addressed the cost, quality, and access to the COVID-19 global health issue through a number of initiatives.
1. Government has introduced different measures to lower the cost of healthcare for people with chronic diseases. For example, instead of paying for medications at the pharmacy, patients can now ask their doctors to prescribe them free of charge and receive it in their own homes.
2.The government has also introduced new policies to encourage more people to undergo regular physical exams and checkups, which are important for early detection of conditions such as diabetes or heart disease.
How has the identified health policy impacted the health of the global population? (Be specific and provide examples)

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the global population, especially in the United States. The pandemic has caused a decrease in productivity, which in turn has impacted businesses and the economy. The reduction in productivity has led to an increase in unemployment and underemployment

The COVID 20 virus spread throughout China and other parts of Asia in mid-June 2019: 2024 – Online Assignment Homework Writing Help Service By Expert Research Writers. This outbreak was caused by an SARS-like coronavirus that emerged from pigs and then multiplied into a novel form that spread rapidly among people with no known immunity.
Describe the potential impact of the identified health policy on the role of nurse in each country. The covid 19 health policy has a great impact on the role of nurse in USA. The policy is designed to reduce the number of infections by limiting access to healthcare workers who are not immune to this virus. This will make it more difficult for the virus to spread. However, it is unclear how this will work in practice because there are so many nurse-to-patient interactions every day, and there is no way to know who is immune and who isn’t. There will be some people who try to avoid these interactions, which could lead to more infections than before if someone else gets infected.

It’s important for nurses to understand how these policies will affect their work and what they can do about it. For example, if you feel like you’re being put at risk by these new rules, you could talk with your manager about it and ask for more training or support if necessary.
The covid 19 pandemic has had a huge impact on the role of nurse in China. The economic slowdown, along with the health policy, has affected the ability to hire nurses as well as their morale. The impact of this crisis on nurses is significant and hard to measure, but one thing is certain – it will have a profound effect on their lives for many years to come.

Nurses work in a variety of settings, including primary care and hospital wards. They have been called upon to provide care for patients at all levels of medical expertise and specialties, from newborns to geriatric patients. They are often responsible for providing both clinical and non-clinical services (including administrative support) to patients and families.
Explain how global health issues impact local healthcare organizations and policies in both countries. (Be specific and provide examples) Global health issues impact local healthcare organizations and policies in USA.

In recent years, a large number of diseases have been spread across the globe through travel and trade routes. The most notable example is the Ebola outbreak which was first reported in 2014: 2024 – Essay Writing Service | Write My Essay For Me Without Delay and has since spread to many parts of Africa and Europe (Kantamneni et al.,2020). Other diseases such as Zika virus, chikungunya virus, SARS, MERS, H1N1 influenza are also spreading rapidly (Boffito et al., 2021). These diseases can have deadly consequences on those who are infected and their families.

The lack of knowledge about these diseases paired with limited resources for prevention and treatment makes it difficult for healthcare providers to respond quickly enough when an outbreak occurs (Kantamneni et al.,2020). This leads to a huge burden on local communities with limited resources as they struggle not only to support themselves but also their loved ones while they undergo treatment. In addition, this can create a public health crisis that could affect other countries if it spreads further through air travel or trade routes.

Global health issues impact local healthcare organizations and policies in China, for example, the rapid spread of pandemics and epidemics like SARS and Zika virus.

The SARS outbreak lasted from 2002 to 2003. The first cases were reported in Guangdong province and Hong Kong on March 16, 2002. By May 1st 2002, more than 1 million people had been infected with the disease. The outbreak spread to 13 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa and Oceania. There were over 25 000 deaths reported worldwide during the epidemic.

The WHO declared an international emergency on March 27th 2003 and recommended that all countries implement a coordinated response strategy to combat the disease.
General Notes/Comments The United States and China has a long history of managing global health issues, which we have been able to do because our country is so large and diverse (Kantamneni et al.,2020). Our federal government has long been at the forefront of efforts to fight disease and improve health. The U.S. has not only provided funding for international health efforts, but also has played a leadership role in global health initiatives such as the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria and the Global Health Initiative.

PART 2
Reflective essay
Plan for social change that incorporates a global perspective or lens into your local practice and role as a nurse leader.
As a nurse leader, I have to think about the global perspective and lens in my local practice. The first thing I do is to connect with other nurses in my area who are leaders. I ask them for advice and tips on how to be a better leader. These conversations help me get a better understanding of what it means to be a nurse leader and how to practice as one. The second thing is that I look at the world from a different perspective by looking at other countries, cultures and religions around the globe. This allows me to see things from different perspectives and helps me understand how we can better integrate our practices into theirs (Boffito et al., 2021). The third thing is that instead of focusing on only one aspect of social change (e.g., health care reform), we can focus on multiple aspects, such as child nutrition, family planning and education, which are all interconnected in their outcomes (e.g., improved nutrition leads to healthier children).
Explain how you would advocate for the incorporation of a global perspective or lens into your local practice and role as a nurse leader.
I would advocate for the incorporation of a global perspective or lens into my local practice and role as a nurse leader. This will allow me to be more effective in my work and will also provide me with an opportunity to share my knowledge with others throughout the world. The more I can share my knowledge with other nurses, the better I will be able to serve the community. By being aware of how other nurses around the world are managing similar situations, I will be able to make changes that can improve patient care outcomes. By incorporating a global perspective into my role as a nurse leader, I would be able to help people who have not yet been identified by their communities or countries (Boffito et al., 2021). By providing them with information on how they can improve their health status, I am making it easier for them to access resources that could help them live better lives. Another benefit of having a global perspective is that it would allow me to understand how different cultures impact nursing practices and roles within those cultures. By understanding how these different cultures operate and what rules they have in place for nurses who work there, I would be able to provide better care for all patients regardless of where they come from or what language they speak (Boffito et al., 2021).
Explain how the incorporation of a global perspective or lens might impact your local practice and role as a nurse leader.
The incorporation of a global perspective or lens to the nursing practice is a way for nurses to think about their practice in a more holistic way. It helps them to see how their actions have an impact on other people and the environment. In addition, it allows them to consider the impact that their decisions have on others (Boffito et al., 2021). For example, if I was working in a community health center, I would be concerned with how my decision to increase or decrease funding might affect the services available at my site. If I were working as an interdisciplinary team leader and wanted to change our plans for care, I would need to take into account not just what it would mean for me but also what it would mean for all of those who use our services and who are affected by our decisions. The incorporation of a global perspective or lens can help me understand the bigger picture by helping me see how many people are affected by my work (Boffito et al., 2021). It can also help me understand why it’s important that we make these changes so that they are sustainable over time and reflect our organization’s values.
Explain how the incorporation of a global perspective or lens into your local practice as a nurse leader represents and contributes to social change.
The incorporation of a global perspective or lens into my local practice as a nurse leader represents and contributes to social change by: 1. Providing a global perspective on health care issues and policies that are relevant to nurses and other caregivers in developing nations. 2. Helping me understand the broader context of health care issues and policies that are relevant to nurses and other caregivers in developing nations. 3. Encouraging me to understand how the health care system works in other countries and how it could work better in the United States if certain changes were made (Boffito et al., 2021) (Boffito et al., 2021).
