 Your assignment must be submitted to Turnitin via iLearn before 3 pm, Monday 8
Oct (Week 9).
 No extension will be granted. There will be a deduction of 10% of the total available
marks made from the total awarded marks for each 24 hour period or part thereof that
the submission is late (for example, 25 hours late in submission – 20% penalty). This

Assignment Question (10 marks):
You are required to choose a suitable company with sufficient disclosures and write a business
research report to address the following two questions. You may choose the company from:

By reference to the annual report of your selected company, you are required to address the
following two aspects in the business report:
(1) Review the inventory disclosure of your selected company which may include:
-inventory system (perpetual or periodic);
-cost assumption (FIFO, LIFO or average cost);
-the impact of cost assumption to the statement of profit and loss and
-evaluation of inventory, etc.
(2) Discuss factors that accountants should consider when setting up accounting policy
relating to inventory for the entities they work for?
The total mark of this assignment is 60 (refer to marking rubrics), then your marks will
be converted to 10% towards your overall assessment.

Assignment Requirements:
a) Structure
The report must contain the following (in this order):
• Report cover page (You can design your own cover page)
• Table of contents
• Executive summary
• Introduction
• Body
• Conclusion
• Reference list
You should include relevant parts of the annual reports that you have used and referred to in
your report. Do NOT attach entire annual reports.
b) Word limit
The assignment should be typed (in Microsoft Word, Times New Roman, 12 font, 1.5 line
spacing). The word limit is 800 including references. However, it can be 10% over/under the
word limit without incurring a penalty. Please note that only include introduction, body and
conclusion in the word count.
c) Referencing
It is extremely important that you are familiar with the university policy on plagiarism that is
included in the unit guide. You must re-write material in your own words and not just copy and
paste from the internet or any other resources. You must properly reference all material in the
main text and provide a reference list at the end of the assignment. It is recommended that you
use the Harvard or APA referencing style.
d) Submission to Turnitin
Your individual assignment must be submitted to Turnitin via iLearn before 3 pm, Monday
8 Oct (Week 9). A brief guide on Turnitin submission is provided on iLearn.
Turnitin is an internet database that identifies work containing unoriginal material. Your
assignment will be scanned using the Turnitin software and if you have copied material from
the internet or other sources improperly, you will be penalised. The scanning will also tell us
if you have copied from another student. Staff in the unit will perform a check on the similarity
of your report to others. Student who plagiarizes in any form will receive ZERO mark for the
individual assignment and may be reported to authorities for misconduct.
