A BRIEF REPORT ON MOTIVATION FOR WORKERS IN A SECURITY FIRM
Introduction
An organization that has its employees motivated will always be on the success level. This is because motivation comes with a lot of benefits to every organization. An organization that is not motivated in any way cannot get any work done, meaning there will be less productivity in the company. Research done has shown that money has got a lot of motivation for employees; however, there are a lot of other factors that need to be considered. This might include age, skill level, culture. The internal and external environment can motivate these factors.
Motivation can be defined as the various processes that cater to an individual’s intensity, direction, and persisted effort towards achieving a specific goal. It would, therefore, be correct to say that motivation comprises of three elements (van, Hirst, 2020). Intensity is the amount of effort one is required to put in. The direction is where they are headed or what they are trying to do. Persistence means how long an individual will keep on working, assuming that things go wrong (Herzberg, 2017). A manager should be able to immediately tell when there is lacking any of the three elements. Managers expect that workers should meet deadlines, work tirelessly, work overtime, among others, but do not put into consideration other ways to get the employees to complete the tasks without forcing them (Pang, Lu, 2018: 2024 – Write My Essay For Me | Essay Writing Service For Your Papers Online). The role of a manager should be to encourage workers to have teamwork. This is simply by motivating them.
Motivated staff can achieve goals faster, increase productivity, and doing the right thing. This means that they have a direction (Klopotan, Mjeda, Kurečić, 2018: 2024 – Write My Essay For Me | Essay Writing Service For Your Papers Online, pp151-160). As a manager, before even trying to look for methods on how the employees can be motivated, they should have a look at the people they are dealing with, that is, attitude towards work, their value and what they do. Also, look at the various skills required for the job, level of concentration, among others (Liu, Gong, Zhou, Huang, 2017, pp1164-1188.). This should be the overall measure of the kind of motivation that employees should be given. After all this, it is now time to look at the external factors for motivation. Intrinsic rewards are those that an employee gets after a good job done while extrinsic rewards include those positive feedbacks that an employee receives for an excellent job done form someone else (Lin, 2007, pp135-149.). As the security manager in this firm, evaluating the tasks at hand first would be the best idea before deciding on the kind of motivation to give. For example, if the firm does not have money to give as incentives for an excellent job done, talking to the team and praising them for a good work done will motivate them to work even harder. This should be the responsibility of the team leaders who, in turn, will report it to the senior managers. If the firm can give someone a little cash incentive for good work done, then this would also be a good idea. However, the theory of evaluation of tasks done first should be rightfully applied.
Conclusion
Motivated workers tend to work more and increase productivity in the organizations they work for. It is, therefore, the work of every manager to ensure that their employees are motivated to get the best results.
