Solution Description

3 key ideas from this week’s reading.

One key idea is standing at all costs. Throughout all of the reading standing for what you believe is right. One example of standing through all costs was when Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were going to be thrown into a fiery pit and instead of bowing to the gold statue they said, “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we … will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold” (Daniel 3:16–18).

Another key idea is peer pressure. All through the reading Daniel and his friends are constantly being pressured by their peers to give in and follow the Assyrian lifestyle they never give in to their peers and they were remembered for their resistance to peer pressure. “But these four are the only ones whose names we know because they appear to have been the only ones who stood up for their faith in God.” [Ed Hindson (2017). (p. 180). Courageous Faith: Life Lessons from Old Testament Heroes (Updated)]. One instance of them being peer pressured is when they gave them food to eat from the kings table.

One more key idea is enduring to the end. No matter what situation Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were put into they never gave up halfway through fighting for what they believed in even when they put Daniel into the den of lions or Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego into the fiery furnace. If they would have given in they would not have gone through all that trouble, but they endured to the very end of all the trials and survived because they had God with them.

2 things you learned from this week’s reading.

One thing I learned from this week is that I should eternally have faith in the Lord. He will always be with me. I always knew the Lord was constantly with me, but I think this weeks reading really affirmed that for me.

Another thing that I learned is how it is important to avoid peer pressure. When I am faced with peer pressure I will now ignore that pressure and stick to what I believe is right. Of course, I have known about peer pressure for a long time, but it is hard to stand up against it. The reading helped me understand that avoiding peer pressure is more rewarding than following everyone else.

1 way you can use what you have read this week.

One way I can use what I have read this week is that I will use their willingness to let God guide their lives as a guide for my life. I have a hard time giving all the control of my life to the Lord, but I believe that the reading this week has helped me both understand and overcome my problem with letting go of the controls. I will try my very best to follow the lead of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and live my life fully relying on the Lord to guide my every move.
