Identify two criminological theories from your textbook that you find most applicable for reasons why people commit crime today. Explain your reasoning.
Consider the following two questions: As a society, should we discontinue programs that promote rehabilitation for prisoners and instead use those funds for other efforts, such as “fighting crime”? Or, should we continue these programs and decrease funding for the “war on drugs”? Which sentence do you agree with? Explain your reasoning.

Crime is one of the existing difficult phenomena that changes with time as well as across cultures. What might be termed legal in one country might be regarded as illegal in another country. However, different types of crimes usually have their own distinct causes which have been explained using various theories. From, biological theory perspective, to commit a crime is a form of illness that result from pathological factors specific to particular people (Agnew, 2005). These people are born criminals and therefore are different from non-criminals from a biological perspective. The cause of their criminal acts is believed to be caused by the physical and mental inferiority that make them unable to follow rules. From a psychological theory perspective, people who commit crime are influenced by consequences of individual factors, for instance, idleness or antisocial behavior that results in criminal thoughts, negative childhood experiences, or forces of unconsciousness taking place in human mind (Andrews & Bonta, 2014: 2024 – Essay Writing Service | Write My Essay For Me Without Delay). By helping the prisoners’ reform it is a form of fighting all types of crimes because different prisoners have committed different crimes and continuing with the rehabilitation programs will help them all and eventually, all criminal acts will be reduced.
