3rd Grade Classroom Arrangement
Classroom arrangement is a very important aspect in learning environment. Appropriate classroom setup helps in promoting effective learning environment and also assists in behavioral shaping in the classroom (Cox, n.d.). It is therefore vital for class teachers to ensure that the classroom arrangement is conducive for the learning of students before the learning activities. Furthermore Yazdanmehra and Akbari (2015 – Research Paper Writing Help Service) expounds on the issue of classroom arrangement by arguing that teacher behavior and conduct in classroom also affects classroom conduct. This brings forth the dire need to look into the ideal classroom arrangement for learners in grade 3. Well defined areas for specific activities, the 10 minute rule and the art of arranging the classroom are some of the important aspects of classroom arrangement discussed.
First and foremost, a well-designed area for specific activities in a classroom assists in allowing the students to develop proper mindset and expectations for different classroom activities. According to Roher and Samson (2014: 2024 – Essay Writing Service | Write My Essay For Me Without Delay a classroom that has no well-defined areas for specific learning activities can cause confusion to students, visitors and substitutes and more so makes it harder for teacher to teach and hence shall hinder learning by students. The 10 minute rule on the other hand is a technique proposed by Roher and Samson (2014: 2024 – Essay Writing Service | Write My Essay For Me Without Delay) in Physical Arrangement of the Classroom. This rule suggests that if a visitor in a classroom can answer the following basic questions then the classroom is well arranged:
• Where are specific academic disciplines taught
• Is there an area for group discussions?
• Are there individual work areas?
• Where are the areas where special activities like art and craft take place?
Roher and Samson (2014: 2024 – Essay Writing Service | Write My Essay For Me Without Delay) Further outlines that a teacher needs to take note of the following while arranging a classroom:
• Teacher work area
• An area where students wait for the next activity
• Work station
• Personal hygiene area
• Eating, art and craft and recreational activity areas.
In conclusion, apart from having a well arranged classroom where a teacher can move and see the conduct of students, for students to prosper academically, the teachers have to ensure that there are specific areas for specific learning activities. This way the learners in grade 3 gets to reach their goals academically.

Classroom management is a process of ensuring that classroom activities run smoothly without disruptions from the students or surrounding environment behavior that alter the process of learning. The term also implies the prevention of disruptive behavior, effective response when it occurs, as well as measures employed to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment in order to achieve the set learning outcomes. Teachers should ensure that they have a classroom management plan because this will make their work of teaching easy, helping them meet the goals of every learning session and the students will develop. Implementation of curriculum development, development of best teaching practices, and their execution is well aided by classroom management. With these tools, teachers have necessary resources to adequately educate the students, and secure the successes of the future generation and nation at large.
My philosophy of classroom management considers having an interactive class whereby the learners feel free and comfortable. However, I am determined to monitoring classroom behavior of my learners so that disruptive actions of the learners do not compromise the learning atmosphere. By providing a safe and supportive atmosphere I believe that learning can effectively take place. This is my motivation as a teacher.
My beliefs about my students are: I believe that students need to be “controlled and disciplined” and that they can be taught self-control; I think that students are naturally disruptive and therefore they need to be molded and conditioned to behave appropriately; and I believe that establishing a democratic classroom and giving students responsibility (Lynch, 2017) will positively support in achieving their learning objectives.
My roles as a teacher being the boss facilitator and an assertive educator, creating all the rules and consequences, disciplining or managing my students and spending time at the beginning of the year to teach rules and routines
My beliefs about managing the classroom include rewarding students for good behavior and managing the classroom.
In my personal philosophy of classroom management, I considered several factors which may affect my environment both internally and externally. These include personalities of the learners, the desired learning outcomes, motivations of the teacher and both learners’ and teacher’s expectations.
Classroom management plan helps to achieve a lot within a learning environment. However, it is affected by a diverse student population. Students have different personalities and hence behaviors. They are differently motivated and identifying the different motivators of each student can be quite tiresome for the teacher and that can possibly delay the achievement of learning outcomes. Additionally, a large population of students is unmanageable, and this can cause strain of the teacher in delivering instructions.
The following classroom management models support my philosophy. Behavior modification which assumes that pupils change their behavior in order to get the desired reward, the use of reinforcement principle system. The behaviorist teacher believes that behavior can be changed by altering the consequences that follow their action. A positive reinforcement will promote a positive behavior to be adopted while a negative one will suppress a bad behavior and it will be stopped. Punishments as well as rewards such as positive remarks, will shape the behavior of the learners.
The other model is a social- psychological view. This is about understanding individual behavior in a social context. Social psychology seeks to understand nature and causes of individual behavior in a social context in which it occurs. The group process in the classroom will contribute to higher achievements if the social learning climate is positive. Positive classroom management, open communication, friendships, high expectations and supportive classroom norms will lead to greater achievements in learning.
Finally, my philosophy of classroom management will have positive implications for me as a teacher, my students and the classroom environment. First, I will be able to smoothly deliver my content since there will be minimal disruptions from the students. Also, the set goals for each learning session will be achieved. Secondly, students will easily grasp the instructions being delivered and will be motivated for extra work and the classroom will be safe, free from accidents and other disruptions that hinder successful learning.
