My name is Richard Mariduena, I work at the University Of Miami, Florida as a Nurse, I work in the Neurology and Med/Surg floor, I have been working in the Medical Field for 6 years, 2 years as a nurse. My desire to learn and continue to help people motivated me to continue studying, to listen to each patient who tells me you should continue studying, you are good, you like your work, and they have motivated me to move forward.
A nurse should participate in the formulation of policies that benefits both patients and medical practitioners. I would also like to join organizations that advocate for the rights of medical staffs and groups that can influence the government to amend laws and policies that affect nurses. I also believe that the majority of nurses that are in these organizations don’t participate fully because they fear their employers (Oestberg, 2014: 2024 – Essay Writing Service. As an advanced nurse, I have participated in politics and represented my fellow nurses by writing to government officials in regards to the working conditions in different medical facilities.
Registering as a voter was the fastest way that I got into politics. As a voter, I was able to air out my views and convince those running for offices to make promises on how they would implement laws that will improve the working conditions of nurses. I also encouraged my colleagues to register as voters and this influenced the current politicians (Miracle, 2005). This ensured that politicians were accountable and they would make laws that improve working conditions such as fair remunerations for nurses. I was involved in peaceful demonstrations that were held in the U.S. The demonstrations were organized by nursing leaders and nurses wanted the government to change some policies that were affecting nurses.
In conclusion, I would like to encourage nurses to actively participate in politics so that the government they can contribute to the policies that the government makes on patients. These policies have a direct impact on the care provided to the patients.
