Developing countries have the highest rate of food problem with thousands of people dying every due to nutrition-related disease. About three-quarters of the world population struggle to survive hunger due to food shortage. In Europe, half of the female teenagers undergo through special diet programs at some point due to malnutrition or poor dietary. A third of the United State population is recorded to experience diet-related disorder like obesity which kills thousands of people each year in the country. Statistically, about 850 million of the world population goes hungry every day with food shortage being announced as a global disaster that has contributed to the high rate of poverty across the world.
As described in the video, food problem is a major issue affecting the global economy, causing the increasing rate of poverty. Food shortage is termed as violation of human rights as every individual is entitled to sufficient food. Hunger is an economic handicap as the hungry population is less productive. There is less exploitation of full capacity of a human resource where hunger dominates and people record high rate of sickness and poor thinking capacity, a major retardant to global economic growth. Hunger leads to a decline in productivity which hinders global prosperity and compromises sustainable use of natural resources.
Hunger and global food problem can be managed through enhancement of sustainable use of available resources to avoid their depletion. Joint efforts from different global organizations play a major role in global hunger reduction and poverty. Creating a healthy nation and environment would contribute to developing a productive population that is capable of working toward global sustainability. Increasing food production and population growth control are among the implemented ideas which are found to be effective in the management and control of food-related problems. The world economists propose an increase in productivity of farmlands with the major focus being on staple food like corns, wheat, and rice.
