Crime Scene Report
Case: 2015 – Research Paper Writing Help Service-01350
ACTIVITY SUMMARY: At approximately 1600hrs on 01-24-20, Technician Jack carried out an examination of a burglary at the request of Officer Ketchum at Orlando, Florida, at apartment 3.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SCENE: The scene is located on the Westside of 1200 west and faced East. The apartment is on a 3 storey building, situated on the ground floor in the east corner of the building. The apartment had a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom and two bedrooms. The storey building is the only one in the area; other apartments are bungalows. The street leading to the building has 3 lanes that also have street parking against each side. A walking lane and a bicycle lane are also present. The street is quite busy as several bikers and pedestrians can be seen riding and walking on the streets respectively.
CONDITIONS OF THE SCENE: When Officer Ketchum arrived at the scene, he found the front door of the apartment closed and no damage had been done to it. However, the front window was broken. An empty can was found by the front door. The inside of the apartment looked messy. Several pieces of furniture in the living room were turned upside down, i.e., some of the seats and the coffee table. Clothing, a flower vessel, books, packs of cigarettes, and seat cushions, were found on the floor. The DVD player was missing. The kitchen drawers were also left wide open and forks, knives, some sheets of paper were also spread out on the kitchen floor. The door of the fridge was left wide open. Apart from several food items in the fridge, there were two cans of soda. The resident indicated that there were 3 cans initially. As such, he believed that whoever broke into his house drank one can of soda leaving the two. The two bedrooms were messy as well. In one of the bedrooms, it appeared that the burglar had removed clothes from the hangers and threw them across the bed and the bedroom floor. The drawers of the wardrobe had also been ransacked and some of the jewelry as reported by the resident was missing. The jar on the dresser was also empty; the resident mentioned that about $30 in bills and change had been in the jar. In the other bedroom, the chair and table were turned upside down and so was the shoe rack. Several pairs of shoes were spread across the floor. Some of the bedding and the mattress was also lying on the floor. The window in this bedroom remained closed.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: When the officer was conducting the examination, the temperature outside was estimated to be 89 degrees Fahrenheit. The skies were clear and it was sunny as well. The ground was dry. Visibility was good but the traffic was quite heavy.
FACTORS PERTINENT TO ENTRY/EXIT: there were signs of forced entry as evidenced by the broken window.
SCENE DOCUMENTATION: the officer took photos of the scene utilizing a Nikon digital camera and the images were filed in the Crime Lab
SEARCH FOR LATENT IMPRESSIONS: the search for latent impressions was carried out on the can of soda found by the front door, the fridge, the window frame, and the jar. Impressions that will be found will be kept on file in the Crime Lab.
