The Project Aims and Objectives:

The aim of the proposed project is to facilitate and allow input of legal information, i.e. court cases, policies, processes, and procedures by the judiciary as well as a platform for the public to access the data and information and interact with case workers.

The objectives of the proposed project are as follows;
i) To facilitate a communications platform where the judiciary can provide legal information.
ii) To facilitate a communications platform where the public can access this information and interact with case workers.
iii) To allow file sharing by the different types of users who will interact with the system.
iv) To allow chat functionalities.
v) To ascertain controlled access to public services to users through the use of credential access.
vi) To develop a user-friendly communication platform in conjunction with intuitive design and layouts.

Research Methods Survey: The survey will focus on the assessment of jurisdictions and other areas in the judicial system where communication systems have been improved in the past, their success levels, and the lessons learned. This information will form the basis for the development of the artefact.
IT Artefact The IT artefact will be a web-based Communication system built with an API (set of codes and an interface) like Twilio, setup to enhance the communication capabilities between the public and the judicial actors. The system will provide functionalities such as credential access, video conferencing, file sharing and chat functionalities. The API will have a front end and backend that will be used by the court workers and the system administrators respectively.
Evaluation A mock trial will be set up to evaluate the application of the framework. The success of the framework will be based on its performance during the mock test.

Project Outline:

Research methods for the proposed project will comprise of surveys, online questionnaires as well as in-person interviews. Primarily, the IT artefact will be a communication system platform where the public can communicate with the judiciary for access to services.

Accordingly, these deliverables will comprise of the communication system, which will be a web-based communication platform that will provide communication and interaction features. On the other hand, the internal deliverables are those that do not directly relate to the users, but are essential for the processes and transactions performed. They comprise of the project being able to enable chat rooms, filing legal documents, posting new content and legal information, keeping track of requests, messages, as well as filing complaints.

Evaluation Criteria:

There are a number of criteria that will be utilized to measure the success of the completed proposed project. For the most part, the proposed project aims at designing a communication platform where the main functionalities include enabling credential access, video conferencing, file sharing, as well as chat functionalities.
